Hello Friends welcome to the new PAF release called Zinnia Magellan Rose . I am so glad you are joining me on my blog from the very creative and talented Keren Baker blog. I hope are getting tons of inspirations as you are hoping along.
Paint a Flower is my most favorite releases of all as it suggest in the name "PAINT" and I love coloring "FLOWER". With that said this release has a large and beautiful floral image that you will love to color with mediums of your choice. For my Zinnia MagelIan Rose, I chose to color with Watercolor mediums. I say mediums because that's what I did, I used two different mediums of watercolors for the flowers.
Watercoloring is a lot of fun but it does require some patience and time. In my opinion, It is one of those mediums where you have to build the colors in order to get the depth you are looking for. I have some step by step images of the layers I built.
I stamped the PAF Zinnia Magellan Rose with obsidian black ink on a watercolor Cardstock twice to the bottom of the Cardstock. (First Image) I started with a a very light wash with Altenew Woodless Watercolor pencils. Once the color was completely dry I went with a second coat with the same color pencils and added some shadows.
(Second Image)- When the paints were completely dry I switched mediums, to Altenew Watercolor Brush markers. One thing to keep in mind these markers are highly pigmented so very little goes a long way. You can see I choose the same colors as the woodless pencils for the brush markers as well. But the image on the right is so much more pigmented. By now I have added three layers.
(Third Image)- once the third layer was dry I added more depth this time I changed the yellow to a purple color and kept the same orange brush marker. I used the purple color to add to the shadow areas and to addd details to the petals. As I mentioned earlier the floral stamp is large enough to add details and textures.
Fourth Image- The last step was to add some background, for that I painted with Altenew Gold Ink Spray and ended with some paint spaltters using the same colors as well as some white paint.
FYI- Altenew is running a special offer on watercolor paints details at the bottom of the page
I wanted the flowers to look like there were glowing in sun light and that's the reason I chose gold paint for the background. I stamped "You" directly to the watercolor Cardstock with Obsidian Black Ink and the additional sentiment was stamped and embossed using white embossing powder.
Here is the final look, isn't this a gorgeous flower? Grab your PAF Zinnia Megellan Rose today and have fun with your favorite coloring medium. I am the last one on the hop today, and the next link is Altenew Card Blog where the hop is hosted and begins.
