Altenew stamps | Beautiful Details

Updated: Feb 18, 2020

Hello lovelies, Moving on with the next class for AECP is Beautiful Details and this class is right up my alley. I am a stickler for details and never skim on adding that to any of my cards. This class is well taugt by Marika Rahtu, who is a coloring Maestro. I learnt a lot rom he through these classes, but the the one that really stood for me was coloring on vellum. So for my card today I did a flower and some leaves on velum and some other on regular cardstock

Ok so lets dive in:

  • Start by stamping a few leaves and flowers with black ink on Solar white Neenah Solar white Card stock and a few flowers and leaves on vellum using embossing ink and gold embossing powder. I used the Beautiful Day, Peony Boquet and Leaf Canopy stamps from Altenew.

  • Color the images o the vellum using copic colors from the back of the embossed vellum. I used two shades of Copic Colors for all my coloring. After the coloring was done from the back i took out my Prismacolor pencils few in similar shads and some in gray tones to start adding details. Below I have few images to show you how they look before and after. The images do brighten up and come to life when you add details.

  • Color the images on the cardstock, first with the two shades of copics and then add details and depth using pencils. When choosing copic colors try to choose some softer colors, so that when you use pencils you get to deepen the images. See the image below for the before and after of the leaves.

  • You can see the difference between the two colored images, the one on the right is just two shades of copics and the left is the one with pencils on the copics. You can also see I did not exactly use greens for my color pencil instead I used gray for the shadows and then green on top of it. Add gray is a good option for cast shadows in your images.

  • After all the images where colored I fussy cut them all using fine details scissor.I also die cut a circle frame using two different sizes of nesting circle dies from stash on a gold foil card stock.

  • On a 41/2x61/4 white card stock apply some copper glaze from deco foil using the Deco wallpaper stencil and keep it too dry.

  • Arrange the flowers and the leaves on one side of the die cut gold circle we created using circle dies. Add Foam adhesive to the back of the gold circle frame.

  • Stamp the sentiment from the Beautiful Day stamp on a black crdstock with white embossing powder and die cut it in a banner shape.

  • Adhere the gold circle on the dried stencil banckground. Tuck one end of the sentiment banner into the floral cluster and adhere it to the stencils cardstock with foam adhesive.

  • Add some gem stones in copper to tie in the copper from the stench and adhere tis entire panel to a side folding 5x7 Neenah Desert Storm 110lbs notecard and your card is done.

Below is another look at the fished card..

So next time you make a card don't shy away from adding some additional details it does make a big impact. Please feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer them. i hope you enjoyed todays post and i will see you next time, until then, leaving with a lot of happy thoughts and a big hug from me to all of you.
