Magical Markers | Altenew Stamps

Updated: Feb 28, 2020

Hi friends,

Welcome back to my pretty world!!!! Today's card features Altenew Academy's Magical Markers class, taught by Sara Naumann. Sara does an amazing job teaching different ways to use your alcohol markers on your cards. My favorite was the spattering and the stenciling. The stenciling effect gave such an artistic and organic look, that I wanted to try that for myself .

For my card i chose to go with an absolutely different look than my usual floral styles. This card I chose to make an abstract city scape scene using Atenew's City Scene Stencil. This stencil has city scene on the top and the bottom edge which mans you can create four different city scenes on your card.

  • Begin by coloring in the stencil in the center of a white cardstock using black Altenew Marker. Turn the stencil around off set it a bit and color using a gray Altenew Marker.

  • Turn the stenciled cardstock up side down and color the city line using various colors of Altenew Markers. I chose some red and purple tones of markers Coloring through the stencil gives a very artsy look. When coloring through the stencil try not to go to the very edge of the stencil as this add to the sketchy and artsy feel of the card.

  • Spritz some isopropyle alcohol through a spritzer on the colored cardstock. This adds a lot of texture to the inked background and in some places it also creates color bleeds, creating a very artistic look. The alcohol reacts with theArtist Marker colors to create a lot of variations.

  • Next I scribbled some deep red and purple colors onto my glass mat and added Isopropyle alcohol to it. I dipped a stippling brush to the solution and sprayed it all over the surface of the city scape card stock.

  • Die cut the word Hello using Altenew Alphabet die set in the center of the colored panel and add foam adhesive to the back of the die cut letters.

  • Glue the cardstocck panel with the die cut word hello on to a side folding white note card using liquid adhesive. Now inset the die cut letters with foam adhesive in to the adhered panel.

  • Emboss the sentiment friend on a black card stock using white embossing powder and cut it into a thin a strip. Adhere this on the right of the Hello word using foam tape. Add some gem stones and shimmer pen to the Hello word and your card is done.

I have listed all the products I have used below .

This card was a lot of fun to create. Hope I have inspired you enough to give this class a go. I will see you next time until then happy crafting and keep shining your love and kindness.
