Hello Friends
Welcome to my post, I have a really elegant and ornate snowflake card for you today. This new background stamp from SSS, called the Etched Snowflake is A-mazing!!!! It is one of those background stamps that you can just emboss on some rich colored card stock using various metallic embossing inks, add a sentiment and be done. but you know me, I love me some copic markers.
I pulled out my copic colors and decided to do some multi colored or two toned coloring. I chose a few shades of gray and a few of the violets. But I kept the hue the same. What I mean by that is that I chose all my markers from the BV (Blue Violet) family, and just altered the saturations of the colors. This helped me to blend the two tones easily.
For Example: BV29 vs BV01, the color hue on both are the same Blue Violet, but the saturations are different on both. One is more deep grayish tone and the other is lighter violet tone. Hope that makes sense.
I started the card by stamping the snowflake background on a 80lbs Neenah Solar White card stock using SSS embossing Ink pad and embossed it with Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing powder. After the image was heat set, it was time to copic color the snowflakes. I kept the deep grayish shade in the center and the tips of the snowflake in the lighter violet shades.
Copic Markers Used:
After all the coloring was complete, I colored all the white space using a Black 100 copic marker. This just brought the snowflakes to life. Now it was time to add some sentiment. I did not want to hide my coloring by adding anything too big as it took me a really long time to color. At the same time I wanted the sentiment to play a key role. I decided to pull an older sentiment die set from SSS called Everyday Words On A Line. I die cut this sentiment on a white 110lbs card stock and embossed it with the same liquid platinum embossing powder multiple times to give it a metallic look as well as to make it sturdy. An additional sentiment was stamped on a Lavender cardstock using SSS Big Thanks Words stamps with Intense Black Ink. I die cut the additional sentiment using the Sentiment Labels dies. I finished the card by adding tiny Pansy Purple gem stones from Pretty Pink Posh to the center of the snowflakes. This panel was then mounted on a top folding white card stock matted with the same Lavender card stock.
Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed making this card and sharing it with you. I am sure I will be creating more cards using this background stamp, so please stay tuned for that. See you next time, until then Keep sharing Handmade love and Kindness.
