Hello friends,
It has been a long time since I blogged, mainly due to some health issues I have had. In the month of April my doctor found a mass in my abdomen and said it looked like cancer. This just shook my family and me. After doing a deep tissue biopsy the mass turned out to be granulation tissue because of undissolved sutures from a Hysterectomy that I had undergone two years ago. There was much rejoicing and praising God when we knew it was not cancer, but I still had to undergo a surgery ignorer to take the mass out. I had my surgery last week and I am back home resting and recovering. I am so thankful to many of you who have inquired on Instagram about my health prayed for me and also sent me well wishes.
Now that I am feeling better and August being my birthday month, It is a perfect time to celebrate life. If you head over to my Instagram here, i have a giveaway just to say thank you to all for being so encouraging and kind to me all these months. Becuase it is my birthday month I decided to strat it off with a birthday card. I used the SSS August stamp kit, Party Like A Panda.
I stamped the images using My favorite Things black hybrid ink, which a copic friendly ink. Then I colored all the images using my copic markers. i love coloring and copic are definitely my favorite medium to color. For these images though, I did not to do any major ink blending or coloring techniques as these are fairly simple images. Also they are not realistic images, they are very cartoon like and i like to keep those sharp shadows and highlights on such images as they give them a very illustrative look. I used only two markers of each shade except for three cool gray markers that i used for the pandas.
Copic Markers:
Panda- C0,C1,C3,R11
Cake-Y11,Y19,
Party Caps- G03,G09,BG45,BG23,V09,V
Gifts-R20,R24,V09,V04, Y11,Y19
Bow- R20,R24
Party horn- BG45,BG23
I die cut three round windows on a white panel measuring 4x51/4 inches. I traced the circle opening on to the note and so I can ink blend those opening using distress oxide ink. i used rainbow shades of distress oxide ink. the color inspiration for the card came from the designer paper included in this kit. The paper pack is from Doodle bug, it is a very colorful and bright paper pack and it makes me happy.
Distress Oxide Inks:
Picked Raspberry , Seedless Preserve,Salty Ocean, Twisted Citron, Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apple.
I stamped the sentiment Happy Birthday on a black cardstock using, SSS embossing ink and white heat embossed it. I fussy cut the sentiment to make it look like a die cut.I also stamped additional sentiment on some ink blended cardstock and cut it into thin strips using a label die from SSS. I then added foam tape behind the circle window panel and adhered onto the ink blended note card I adhered the panda images and the sentiments on the card added some white dots using a white gel pen and for some bling, adhered some crystal jewels.
I really liked how bright and cheery the finished card looked. Hope you have a bright and cheery day as well. Happy crafting, until the next time!!
